Centre for Applied Human Rights

The Ritualising Protection Project is co-hosted by the Centre for Applied Human Rights (CAHR), an activist interdisciplinary research and teaching centre nested in the University of York (United Kingdom).

Founded in 2007, CAHR has a reputation for placing people at the core of its work. The Centre’s research, knowledge exchange, teaching, protective and advocacy activities are anchored to real-world human rights and humanitarian challenges and opportunities.

Among other things, CAHR is a temporary relocation provider for human rights defenders (HRDs) at risks. HRDs from all over the world can apply for one of the fellowship schemes hosted at the Centre.

Moreover, CAHR hosts the Human Rights Defender Hub, which brings together the Centre’s work as a leading provider of temporary relocation, knowledge exchange and research in relation to HRDs, including protection issues.
